ARE YOU ‘HIP TO THE SOUND’? YOU SHOULD BE!
The ‘Hip To The Sound’ show broadcasts live every Sunday evening from 6pm to 8pm (Pacific Time) on Tuff City Radio from a humble studio facing the Tofino harbour in Tla-o-qui-aht territory. Tuff City Radio is a local gem - created for (and supported by) the diverse voices of the west coast of Vancouver Island in Canada. And one of the last remaining truly independent community radio stations out there!
Swob plays anything from any era - so long as it has a groove and moves you! You’ll forget all about the work week starting tomorrow while rocking out to wall-to-wall bangers.
“All over the map, at the end of the road!”
Swob
Brad “Swob” Parsell was born in Whangārei, New Zealand and currently resides in the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks in Tofino, Canada.
Having played around with the guitar for a few years, Swob started working in record stores when he was 18 years old. He ended up working in the music industry for the next decade - running record stores, working for an independent hip hop label, DJing, and co-founding a club night and beats crew called Dank Morass in Brisbane, Australia. All while collecting records.
Swob started spinning vinyl at underground hip hop, drum & bass, and dubstep nights in 2007. Over the next six years he and the Dank Morass crew would share the stage with the likes of Raekwon, Cut Chemist, El-P, Kid Koala, Flying Lotus, The Bug, Digital Mystikz, Foreign Beggars, and Hermitude.
Swob moved to Fernie, Canada with his special lady friend in 2013 where they resided for almost ten years. While in Fernie he ended up joining the organizing crew of the Wapiti Music Festival as Stage Manager.
These days, you can find Swob strolling down beaches, collecting records and hosting a show on Tuff City Radio in the beautiful territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation (Tofino).
